Eliza Grace Howard

Eliza Grace Howard is a fifth-generation native of rural piedmont North Carolina. Growing up on a small tobacco farm, she experienced the unique culture of the region and gained a deep understanding of its people, both the good and challenging.

Eliza Grace Howard is a fifth-generation native from the rural Piedmont region of North Carolina. Eliza Grace Howard is a talented author celebrated for her deep exploration of human emotions, especially within the realms of relationships and personal transformation. Drawing inspiration from real-life challenges, her writing delves into the complexities of marital struggles, psychological drama, and the inner battles women face. With a keen focus on emotional resilience and empowerment, her works, such as Choice and Glitter, provide readers with compelling narratives that reflect on love, self-discovery, and the pursuit of inner strength.

Because of finances and a lack of guidance, Eliza did not attend a four-year college after high school; she opted for a one-year commercial course at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she fell in love with the order, mathematics, and challenge of accounting.  She dismissed becoming a CPA, but made a living in various positions in accounting until her retirement.  
Her first marriage ended in a nasty divorce, but she found happiness in her second, moving to Houston, Texas.  While living in Houston, she discovered a writer’s group and attended a meeting.  She later declared that she had “found her tribe” there.  At a workshop at one of the monthly  meetings, the speaker gave an outline of how to write a romance novel.  “I can do that,” Eliza said, and her writing career was born.  
She created the fictional small North Carolina town of Phillips, and wrote “Hometown,” the first of her manuscripts,  This story led to “Choice,” which was her first book that she published.  This book was followed by “Glitter,” the second in the loosely-based series in Phillips.  She has since written “Warrior,” “Boss Lady,” and concluded the series with “Normal.”  
Growing up in rural North Carolina, before computers and the internet, Eliza learned sewing from her mother, who was a superior seamstress, quilting, embroidery. taught herself knitting and Swedish embroidery.  She currently designs and creates original, handmade baby quilts as a hobby.  
Her pen name was derived from a combination of family names.  Her paternal grandmother, Eliza, was one of the most intelligent, hardworking, and progressive women Eliza ever met.  She became a young widow at a time when women did not have jobs.  She put food on the table for her family by “taking in washing and ironing, sewing, and altering clothes.  This Eliza was the mother of eight children and two stepsons.   “Grace” was her mother’s name, and “Howard” was the surname of her father.
Eliza Grace Howard currently lives in Lawrence Township, New Jersey.
